BDEX Launches '1DAY Ideathon' to Strengthen Blockchain Talent Development in Busan
BDEX, a leading blockchain platform company, has announced its plans to host the 'BDEX 1DAY Ideathon,' an event designed to boost blockchain innovation and talent within the Busan Blockchain Free Zone. Scheduled for November 26 at Busan's BEXCO Exhibition Center Hall 1, the initiative aims to decentralize blockchain resources, which are predominantly concentrated in Seoul, and foster a thriving ecosystem for technological and business development in the region. This event aligns closely with the strategic objectives of the upcoming '2025 Busan Blockchain Week (BWB).'
Attracting Global Blockchain Contributors
Renowned Layer-1 blockchain projects, including Avalanche (AVAX), Polymesh (POLYX), and GK8, will act as sponsors and judges for the Ideathon. These global players will provide their robust multi-chain infrastructures for contestants to build and present their ideas. The evaluation of submissions will prioritize two critical aspects: technical feasibility and practical applicability, ensuring that the ideas align with industry standards and offer real-world solutions.
The Ideathon is open to anyone aged 19 and above, with participants encouraged to form teams ranging from one to five members. Teams can either be formed on-site or bring pre-existing project concepts, which they will refine and finalize within the event’s timeframe. With a schedule running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., participants will experience an intense yet collaborative sprint to innovate and showcase their potential within the blockchain field.
Rewards for Innovation and Networking
Seven teams will be recognized for their innovative ideas, vying for a total prize pool of KRW 6 million (approximately USD 4,500). The top-ranking team will receive KRW 1.5 million, while two runner-up teams will secure KRW 1 million each. Two third-place teams will earn KRW 500,000 each, and two honorable mentions will take home KRW 400,000 each.
Beyond the monetary incentives, winners will access invaluable opportunities, including networking sessions with leading global blockchain companies, direct support for commercializing their ideas, and pathways to integrate their concepts into ongoing real-world projects. These benefits place participants at the forefront of the blockchain industry’s growth while fostering meaningful connections and professional development.
Bridging Blockchain Talent Between Busan and Seoul
The Ideathon represents more than just a day-long competition; it serves as the beginning of a comprehensive initiative to connect blockchain talent and technologies across Korea’s cities. Participating teams will be offered unique chances to collaborate directly with BDEX’s development team and global partners. To extend these opportunities further, BDEX intends to pair its event format with follow-up internship programs that span across Busan and Seoul, creating broader career pathways in blockchain innovation and driving synergy between the two cities.
Busan’s Push to Become a Blockchain Mecca
Highlighting Busan’s ambition to position itself as a global blockchain hub, BDEX CEO Ryu Hong-Yeol remarked, “This Ideathon not only gives local youth the chance to participate in the global blockchain ecosystem but also represents a pivotal moment for Busan to establish itself as a technology-driven blockchain hub.”
By nurturing local talent and adopting strategic initiatives, Busan is setting the stage to become a key player in blockchain innovation in Korea and beyond.
