# Bitcoin Mining Shifts Towards Corporate Dominance in the U.S.
New York – Jae-Hyung Park, Correspondent: Bitcoin (BTC) mining is increasingly shifting towards a corporate-centered structure. Recently, corporate mining entities in the United States have accounted for over 30% of total Bitcoin mining, with U.S.-based mining pools boasting a hash rate share of up to 40%.
According to Cryptopolitan on the 21st (local time), after the halving event in 2024, major U.S. mining companies expanded their hash rate by an additional 8%, significantly increasing their influence. Many corporations have upgraded their mining equipment and opened new mining facilities to improve profitability. Currently, the total hash rate in the U.S. is approaching the combined market share of China and Kazakhstan, which stands at 34.33%.
Separately, small-scale and individual miners in the U.S. are generating 37.84% of all blocks. Competition among mining pools is fierce. Some corporate miners opt for solo mining instead of participating in mining pools.
Publicly traded U.S. companies are also establishing a strong presence in the Bitcoin mining industry. The top four mining companies by market capitalization are all headquartered in the U.S. and leverage their capital strength to gain an edge in the mining competition.
The total hash rate of the Bitcoin network currently surpasses 806 EH/s. Miners are maintaining hash power despite reduced profitability, with some companies accepting losses in anticipation of increased value in their held assets.
The Bitcoin mining difficulty was adjusted upward on March 11 and is expected to rise slightly by approximately 0.67% on March 23. Major miners have not shown any signs of reducing hash power or turning off their machines, suggesting that the trend of increasing difficulty over the past year is likely to continue.
Experts note, “Currently, mining profitability is very low, but large mining companies are betting on an increase in asset value during future bull markets.”
