Tristan Thompson Files $2M Suit as Crypto Endorsement Sours
- NBA star alleges breach of contract and unauthorized image use in failed WMTX token deal
- WMTX drops 95% since 2022, highlighting industry turmoil
On May 30, 2026 (UTC), Bitget News reported that NBA champion and Kardashian podcast guest Tristan Thompson filed suit against World Mobile Group in Delaware’s Chancery Court. Thompson alleges breach of contract and unauthorized use of his image after the collapse of a $2 million brand ambassador agreement with the U.K.-based crypto telecommunications company.
Thompson claims World Mobile Group wrongfully terminated the endorsement deal and failed to make the promised payments in WMTX tokens, while continuing to use his likeness in marketing campaigns after their partnership ended.
World Mobile Group asserts it ended the contract because Thompson sold and did not return excess WMTX tokens, which the company considered a breach. Thompson disputes this justification, maintaining that the termination and subsequent handling of his image rights violated their agreement.
The lawsuit highlights ongoing regulatory and reputational risks for crypto firms, especially as disputes involving celebrity figures attract scrutiny from legal authorities and the public. WMTX tokens have declined by approximately 95% since reaching their 2022 peak, according to Bitget News. Thompson’s legal action follows a recent Kardashian podcast revelation that has fueled viral speculation about the case’s fallout.
