BNB Standard unveils new name after nearly 6,000 community votes. Board adds YZi Labs leadership; CEO vacancy and $100M lawsuit remain unresolved.
On September 29, 2026 (UTC), GlobeNewswire reported that CEA Industries, the world’s largest corporate holder of BNB tokens, officially rebranded as BNB Standard Corporation after a five-day, open community poll on X (formerly Twitter). Of 5,799 poll participants, about 47% chose the BNB Standard name. The rebrand marks the company’s shift from nicotine vape manufacturing to digital asset treasury management, as it seeks to recover from recent governance and legal controversies. BNB Standard will keep its Nasdaq ticker symbol, BNC, and has rolled out a new visual identity.
The board, led by Chair Carly E. Howard and Interim President Alex Odagiu, emphasized the unusual community-driven process behind the renaming. BNB Standard continues to hold 515,544 BNB tokens, worth around $302.3 million as of July 31, 2026, according to Quiver Quantitative. In its recent Q1 fiscal 2027 results, the company reported an $11.4 million net loss, most of it from a $15.3 million unrealized markdown on its BNB holdings.
Recent governance changes came after activist campaigns and shifts in interim leadership. Following disputes involving YZi Labs (formerly Binance Labs), the board expanded to six directors, now including Ella Zhang, Alex Odagiu, and Matthew Roszak under a June cooperation agreement with YZi Labs. However, litigation against 10X Capital continues, with the dispute centering on a management agreement and a termination clause exceeding $100 million, according to Brown Rudnick.
The company’s top leadership remains unsettled. David Namdar resigned as CEO on July 22, 2026. The search for a permanent CEO and seventh independent board director is still underway, as set out in the YZi Labs agreement.
As of September 29, 2026, 15:08 UTC, BNB (BNB) is trading at $760.85, with a 0.241% change in the past 24 hours, according to the latest market data.
