Zamyatin warned that while Bitcoin is gaining integration with the traditional financial system through ETF approvals and increased institutional investment, it risks a fate similar to BlackBerry if it fails to evolve. He noted that smart contract platforms like Ethereum and Solana outperform in user experience (UX) and programmability, stressing that innovation through Layer 2 solutions is crucial for Bitcoin’s survival. "Ethereum has competed with Bitcoin but hasn't surpassed it as a digital asset. However, it leads significantly in DeFi and UX. Bitcoin must change now," he said. # BitVM and Bitcoin-Based DeFi: Building a Truly Decentralized Bridge BOB combines Bitcoin's security with Ethereum's programmability as a hybrid Layer 2 solution. Zamyatin disclosed plans to use the emerging BitVM technology to create a trust-minimized Bitcoin bridge, setting it apart from centralized solutions like Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC). Bootstrap BOB in the Ethereum Layer 2 environment and secure key DeFi projects and infrastructure. 2. Introduce Bitcoin Finality to enhance Bitcoin security and launch the BitVM bridge. 3. Ultimately establish a fully Bitcoin-secured Layer 2 within Bitcoin itself, eliminating reliance on Ethereum.
