Jihoon Kim Appointed as Permanent CEO of Crypto Innovation Council
On December 24, Cointelegraph announced that Jihoon Kim has officially assumed the role of CEO for the Crypto Innovation Council (CCI). Kim has been serving as interim CEO since December 2024 following the departure of Sheila Warren and will now lead the organization in a permanent position.
Leadership Transition: From Interim to Permanent CEO
The official announcement of Kim’s promotion, released on July 20, highlighted his effectiveness during his tenure as both interim CEO and chairman since January 2025. Before stepping into these leadership roles, Kim was the Head of Legal and Policy for the Council. His prior experience also includes brief but impactful stints at two major cryptocurrency exchanges—Gemini, where he spent under three years, and Kraken, where he worked for less than one year.
In response to his appointment, Kim emphasized the transformative period the cryptocurrency industry is undergoing. “Our industry is at a pivotal moment of critical evolution, requiring deeper and more informed engagement,” he stated. “I aim to continue positioning CCI as a bridge connecting technology and public policy.”
The Role and Impact of the Crypto Innovation Council
The Crypto Innovation Council is a prominent advocacy group dedicated to supporting the growth of the digital assets sector. Through policy recommendations and regulatory feedback, the organization plays a crucial role in guiding U.S. lawmakers and government agencies on cryptocurrency and blockchain-related matters. Over the years, CCI has been instrumental in fostering dialogue between the tech industry and policymakers, reaffirming its importance in shaping the future of digital finance.
Sheila Warren’s Legacy and Institutional Continuity
Kim steps into his new role following the departure of Sheila Warren, who led the organization for nearly three years. Warren’s resignation in December 2024 came just a month before the new U.S. administration took office. Under her leadership, CCI expanded its outreach and influence in both the public and private sectors, laying the groundwork for Kim to further enhance the organization’s mission to champion innovation and regulatory clarity.
As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to evolve, Jihoon Kim’s leadership marks a new chapter for the Crypto Innovation Council, one that promises to strengthen the organization’s position at the intersection of technology, innovation, and public policy.
