# XRP Surpasses Ethereum (ETH) in March Trading Volume on Leading Japanese Crypto Exchanges
XRP (XRP) exceeded Ethereum (ETH) in trading volume on major Japanese digital asset exchanges in March, reflecting a significant shift in market trends, according to recent reports.
On March 28 (local time), U.Today cited data from SBI VC Trade, operated by Japan's financial giant SBI Holdings, revealing that XRP became the second most traded cryptocurrency on the platform last month, outpacing Ethereum.
The exchange's data showed Ethereum dropping to third place, while Solana (SOL) and Dogecoin (DOGE) occupied the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Bitcoin (BTC) retained its status as the most actively traded digital asset on the exchange, maintaining its market dominance.
The report credited XRP's impressive performance in Japan to its solid market presence in the region. Ripple-related digital assets, especially XRP, have built a strong foundation, significantly supported by SBI’s extensive use of XRP in diverse applications such as cross-border payments, on-demand liquidity (ODL) solutions, and even second-hand car transactions.
Moreover, on March 24, XRP was newly listed on Mercoin, another Japanese digital asset exchange. U.Today noted that this development further substantiates XRP's growing acceptance among the Japanese public.
The ongoing adoption of XRP in Japan highlights its rising significance in the digital asset ecosystem, thanks to its varied utility and strong institutional support.
