SharpLink Gaming (BMNR) became the first treasury company to hold 1.2 million ETH, a milestone representing 20% of its ambitious goal to acquire 1% of Ethereum’s total supply. In a report on August 11, 2025, the company announced this achievement amid an ongoing cryptocurrency market rally that has seen Ethereum trading near local highs.

SharpLink Gaming recently solidified its dominant market position by purchasing over 317,000 ETH for its largest acquisition to date, even as prices exceeded $4,300. Founder Jonathan Johnson emphasizes Ethereum’s strategic importance as a corporate asset, citing its ability to generate consistent passive income through staking and decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms. This aggressive acquisition underscores SharpLink Gaming’s commitment to building one of the largest Ethereum treasury reserves.

Meanwhile, corporate interest in Ethereum treasuries is growing rapidly, with other companies like BitMine Immersion Technologies pursuing similar strategies. BitMine recently added 79,000 ETH to its portfolio, increasing its total holdings to nearly 600,000 ETH. These institutional purchases provide liquidity for longtime ETH holders, including early investors and initial coin offering (ICO) wallets that are now unwinding portions of their holdings.

The trend of accumulating Ethereum in corporate treasuries is also sparking interest in other blockchain assets like Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), and select meme coins.
