# Bitget Launches Stablecoin BGUSD with 4% Annual Return Backed by Real-World Assets Bitget, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has introduced a new stablecoin named BGUSD, which offers a 4% annual yield. This yield is backed by real-world assets (RWA) such as money market funds (MMFs) and U.S. Treasury securities. The stablecoin's debut was announced on October 27 (local time). BGUSD can be redeemed on a 1:1 basis for USD Coin (USDC) and can also be purchased using either USDC or Tether (USDT). Daily earnings are automatically credited to users' spot accounts and compounded over time. Bitcoin.com News reports that for the first 30 days after its launch, Bitget will offer a promotional annual percentage yield (APY) of 5%. # Stable Returns amid Market Volatility BGUSD's revenue is derived from a diversified portfolio of tokenized assets, including high-quality MMFs and U.S. Treasury bonds. Bitget has collaborated with institutional partners such as Superstate to manage these assets, ensuring stable yields for users that are protected from the volatility typical of the digital asset market. # Use Cases and Platform Exclusivity Designed for use exclusively on the Bitget platform, BGUSD serves multiple purposes. It can be used as collateral for loans, margin trading in futures, and in products like Launchpool and PoolX. However, external withdrawals of BGUSD are not allowed. To bolster credibility, Bitget plans to implement third-party attestation for its asset backing and assures that partner institutions comply with regulatory and audit standards. # Redemption and Fee Structure Users have the option to redeem BGUSD instantly through Bitget’s reserve pool or follow the standard redemption process, which is completed within three business days. A fixed fee of 0.1% applies to all transactions to ensure sufficient liquidity and cover operational costs. # Combining Stability and Innovation Bitget CEO Gracy Chen has portrayed BGUSD as a solution that combines the stability of traditional finance with the transparency and innovation inherent in digital assets.
