According to a poll released by *The Economist* and YouGov on the 13th, 48% of all respondents evaluated the U.S. economy as deteriorating. The disparity becomes more pronounced when examined through the lens of political allegiance. Among Kamala Harris's supporters, 82% expressed concern over economic decline, whereas 86% of Trump supporters responded that the economy is either improving or unchanged, indicating a clear divide in economic perceptions. When questioned about whether the U.S. economy has already fallen into recession, 50% of Harris supporters affirmed it, while 49% of Trump supporters disagreed. Overall, 37% of respondents believed the U.S. is experiencing an economic recession, 32% disagreed, and 31% were uncertain. The survey also revealed differences in economic perception based on gender. Women were more likely to feel the economy was worsening, with 53% indicating this sentiment compared to 41% of men. Racial disparities were evident as well, with 60% of Black respondents perceiving economic decline, followed by 53% of Hispanics and 45% of Whites. Income level showed a relatively smaller disparity in economic perception. Among those earning less than $50,000 annually, 49% felt the economy was worsening, compared to 45% of those earning between $50,000 and $100,000, and 45% of those earning more than $100,000. Regarding personal financial status, 48% of respondents reported no significant change over the past year, while 35% stated that their finances had worsened. Only 12% noted an improvement. Looking forward, the differing economic outlook based on political affiliation was notable, with 53% of Harris supporters anticipating a worsening financial situation in the coming year, compared to just 7% of Trump supporters sharing this view. President Trump, who took office in January this year, has been intensifying protectionist policies, imposing tariffs on countries worldwide, starting with Canada and Mexico. On the 12th, a blanket 25% tariff on steel and aluminum was announced, with additional tariffs on the EU anticipated. President Trump's approval rating stands at 47%, equal to his disapproval rating. Concerning the direction of the country, 52% of respondents believe the U.S. is on the wrong track, while only 36% think it is headed in the right direction. The poll surveyed 1,699 U.S. citizens aged 18 and older between the 9th and 11th, with a margin of error of ±3.2 percentage points.
