# Bithumb Joins Interpol Conference to Combat Digital Asset Crimes Bithumb, a South Korean digital asset exchange, announced on the 14th that it was the sole domestic exchange to participate in an Interpol-led global conference aimed at enhancing international cooperation to combat digital asset crimes. From October 10 to 12, Bithumb attended the "Project VICTOR" conference held in Bangkok, Thailand. Sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference is an international cooperation project initiated by Interpol to prevent financial crimes and money laundering involving digital assets. Law enforcement agencies from 14 Southeast Asian countries, including Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, participated in the event. A representative from Bithumb said, “The invitation to this conference underscores the importance of cooperation among exchanges in the digital asset field. Through this project, we provided operational support and dedicated case mentoring to counter financial crimes while expanding our existing network of specialized law enforcement agencies.” The conference discussed several key issues, including Interpol’s 'I-GRIP' project targeting tracking and blocking criminal proceeds, the regulatory trends of digital assets in Singapore, and international cooperation strategies for recovering victim losses. On the 11th, Bithumb conducted a special session titled “Digital Asset Crime Types and Institutional Measures for User Protection.” During the session, Jung-Ki Yoo, Head of Policy Support at Bithumb, introduced the recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), South Korea’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) systems, and the latest examples of digital asset-related crimes. Additionally, Bithumb held bilateral talks with Interpol’s Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Centre (IFCACC) to explore further collaboration, bolstering international efforts. Jung-Ki Yoo remarked, “We will continue to strive for enhanced international cooperation to effectively respond to digital asset crimes.”
