According to foreign media reports on the 12th (local time), Soneium, Sony's Layer 2 blockchain, stated that the collaboration is a strategic move to popularize Web3 technology. Sony plans to leverage LINE’s vast user base and Soneium’s scalable blockchain technology to offer new decentralized experiences. This initiative will provide mini app developers with support in community building, marketing, and IP partnerships, fostering an environment conducive to focused development efforts. Sony’s official blog announced that four popular mini games would be integrated into the Soneium L2 blockchain through the LINE partnership. Among these is Sleepagotchi LITE, a game that allows users to earn points without tracking their sleep. Within a month, the game garnered one million users on Telegram and entered the top 10 on the App Store. The combination of LINE’s digital service influence and Soneium’s seamless blockchain integration technology is expected to create a new model that blurs the boundaries between Web2 and Web3. Sony officially launched Soneium’s mainnet in January 2025 and has established partnerships with stablecoin issuer Circle and Bitcoin staking protocol Solv Protocol.
